Courtney Murtz

As a dancer in her childhood and teen years, Courtney has always been drawn to the strength and beauty of movement, but had a hard time embracing the slower pace and mindfulness of yoga. All that changed a few years ago when a dear friend signed herself and Courtney up for an introduction to Aerial Yoga class at Common Ground. From the start of the class Courtney knew she had found a new passion. With the added element of the silk, there was no way her mind could wander. For Courtney, Aerial required full concentration and that soon became a practice of mindfulness which transferred to mat yoga and into everyday life. As Courtney continued to practice Aerial, and added a mat practice, she found she was building both physical and mental strength and just couldn't get enough! So, Courtney was thrilled when the opportunity to complete Aerial Teacher Training arose in the summer of 2019. After completing this training, Courtney started subbing in Aerial classes at Common Ground as often as possible around her full-time job as an Elementary and Middle School Teacher, and her other full-time job as a mom. She is so excited to be teaching Tween and Teen Aerial Yoga, combining her love of teaching young people with her love of Aerial.
