SUMMER 2019 AERIAL Yoga Teacher Training INTENSIVE
For yoga & fitness instructors who want to add this special skill set to their repertoire, and for aerial yoga students who want to deepen their practice, this two-part training led by Katharine Scalora is sure to explore and expand the limits of your existing yoga practice. This comprehensive training will provide you with the tools necessary to share the unique experience of aerial yoga with others. Our style of practice is grounded in yoga and helps to cultivate a greater degree of strength and mindfulness. Upon completion of the training course, opportunities to gain teaching experience through community class offerings will be made to devoted graduates who have met all our requirements and are ready to teach to the public.

AERIAL TEACHER TRAINING: MODULE 1 (32 HOURS)
DATES: JULY 8th-13th
Meets Monday-Friday 11am-5:30pm & Saturday 12-4:30pm with lunch breaks
In the first module, students will learn the foundations required to teach a yoga class using the aerial silk as a prop, as well as sequence and instruct introductory levels of aerial yoga including aerial yoga basics and restorative aerial yoga.
The participants will also:
Receive training in proper rigging and maintenance of aerial equipment
Learn the various benefits and contraindications for aerial yoga practice
Learn how to cue poses and transitions safely and clearly
Learn modifications as well as progressions for students of varying levels
Identify and adjust common aerial misalignments to ensure students' safety
Be able to lead a centering at beginning of class and savasana at the end
Learn to create aerial sequences, including poses and transitions, that flow seamlessly
Investment: $950 for 32 hour Module; includes comprehensive training manual with photos and descriptions of over 125 poses and transitions, as well as sample class sequences.

AERIAL TEACHER TRAINING: MODULE 2 (23 HOURS)
DATES AUGUST 5th-9th
Meets Monday-Friday 11am-4:30pm with lunch breaks
As a progression from Module 1, in Module 2 will offer students the opportunity to learn and teach more intermediate postures and expand their overall repertoire of aerial poses and transitions. Learning how to incorporate these new poses in a mixed-levels class, you'll be equipped to teach more intermediate levels of Aerial like CGY’s Aerial Level 1 and All Levels classes.
You will learn:
How to teach intermediate postures, with variations and modifications
How to sequence a mixed-level aerial class, using a theme to build up to 1-2 peak poses
Safe assists/adjustments for intermediate postures
Investment: $650 for 23 hour Module 2; includes Module 2 training manual, including photos and descriptions of 45+ additional yoga poses and transitions

Meet LEAD TRAINER KATHARINE
Katharine has been practicing yoga since 1999. She has explored many style of yoga, including Hatha, Bikram and Power Yoga before discovering Aerial Yoga in 2015. Katharine is a RYT-200 and holds a 60 Hour Aerial Yoga Teacher Certification. As Common Ground Yoga’s Aerial Yoga Program Coordinator, Katharine has been an integral part of growing the aerial yoga program at the studio, mentoring the aerial yoga staff and making aerial accessible to the community. She is incredibly passionate about aerial yoga and enjoys sharing her love of the practice with her students. She wants her students to know that even without a gymnastics or dance background, aerial yoga can be accessible and beneficial to anyone who wants to learn.
